"Modern Warfare", The Best Call of Duty Series

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series has to have been the best Call of Duty series so far, having started the Call of Duty (aka CoD) franchise onto a multiplayer winner with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (1) (aka Call of Duty 4), having been an extremely exciting game to play.

CoD: Modern Warfare (2007) soon became the "must-have" video-game, then moving onto CoD: Modern Warfare 2 (2009), the second in the "Modern Warfare" series, created by the same developer, Infinity Ward.

CoD: Modern Warfare (1) was a total success, bringing gamers a first-person shooter experience like they'd never seen before. The single player campaign was exciting, including gripping cut-scenes, engaging characters, awesome single player gameplay, and an unforgettable, easy, normal, hard, and veteran difficulty selection to choose from.

CoD: Modern Warfare (1) also had the best multiplayer first-person (or any shooter, for that matter) gameplay that anyone had ever seen at that point, as-well-as having an ultra-fun multiplayer ranking system, having 55 levels and 10 prestiges, as all CoD fans will now know about. CoD: Modern Warfare (1) was the first amazing CoD multiplayer experience which started the CoD franchise on a whole new and exciting journey, still happily moving forward, today.

The Second "Modern Warfare" (aka MW2), carried on from the first very well, keeping in touch with fans desire for the perfect multiplayer experience, having brought back a lot of what made gamers fall in love with the original. The ranking system, prestiges, and gameplay, were all similar to the first "Modern Warfare", although improved with up-to-date technology for that time.

Although, "MW2", did, and still does have its downside, being specific to the multiplayer, since it started the "noob-tube", "quick-scope" and "drop-shot" issue which we still find ourselves being exposed to on the multiplayer function on today's Call of Duty games.

Finally, "MW3" (aka Modern Warfare 3), the final in the "Modern Warfare" series, also being one of the best, in my opinion. This "Modern Warfare" release was developed by Infinity Ward, just like all of the other CoD: Modern Warfare titles, except, this time, Sledgehammer Games co-developed, alongside Infinity Ward for "MW3".

A great Idea!

"MW3" was by all means an exciting game to play, as its multiplayer was a buzz, offering all of the usual excitement we have come to expect from an Infinity Ward CoD title, as-well-as having the added touch of Sledgehammer Games, whose expertise and knowledge certainly offered something more to the game.

So, Why not the "Black Ops" series?

I'm sure there are those of you, who are asking this very question, although, like with all CoD related matters, there will always be those who agree and those who disagree.

Call of Duty: Black Ops (1 & 2) were both great games to play, being developed by a different developer, Treyarch, certainly added to its difference in gameplay and feel. Offering an all-new type of CoD experience, having certain CoD fans more impressed with their developing style, then those, who feel Infinity Ward's CoD developing style is better.

No seriously, why not the "Black Ops" series?

I did't choose the "Black Ops" series mostly due to the multiplayer experience not being as fun or as engaging, in my opinion, when compared to a CoD: Modern Warfare title. That isn't meant to be a hate comment towards the "Black Ops" series, as their games were both brilliantly put together and seriously fun to play, offering endless hours of chaos to immerse yourself into.

But, "Black Ops" has zombies?

That's true! The "Black Ops" series does have the zombies game-mode, having been one of the most awesome game-modes ever added to a CoD game or any game for that matter. But, in my opinion, it is more about the multiplayer experience than the added extras put into a game, even the added extras like CoD: Black Ops zombies, having been that good, it could have become its own game.

Overall, I believe that Call of Duty's best series, so far, is "Modern Warfare", having started the franchise onto a whole new level of intense popularity due to "Call of Duty 4" ("MW1") having had the best multiplayer ever seen at that point in time. As-well-as remaining just as fun to play, all the way from the first "Modern Warfare" up until its final, "Modern Warfare 3".

Final question

Do you think Treyarch should loan the zombies game-mode idea to Infinity Ward, asking them to create their own version of the zombies to see how they could put their touch on the game-mode? ... Leave your answers in the comments section below.

Should I Buy the PS4? - Pros and Cons

PS4 (controller)

Sony's answer to the next-gen console, the Playstation 4, but should you buy one?

I've recently written a post for the Xbox One controller, listing the pros and cons for the console. So, I decided to do the same for the PS4, again, listing the pros and cons.

The PS4 is advertised and promoted as being the console 'for the gamers', being a fair point, considering the PS4 is a gaming machine.

Although, the PS4 is an entertainment device, allowing its users to watch TV, movies, listen to music, connect with friends, and of course, play games.

I felt prompted to create these lists, highlighting the pros and cons for the next-gen consoles, as the festive period is almost among us again, and on a lot of peoples wish-lists for Christmas this year, is a next-gen console.

But which console do you buy?

Well, that is precisely what these pros and cons lists are aimed at helping with, so you can safely analyse your options, finding the perfect console for you, meeting your every need.

One things for sure, the PS4 is a worthy console, rivalling the Xbox One very well, matching nearly every aspect of their rivals console. Although, there are the good points about the PS4, and then there are its bad points. So, here they are.

Pros

  • The game exclusives - The PS4 shines with its enlightening selection of game exclusives, giving more reason to purchase this console over its rivals. The list includes Infamous: First Light, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (2015), The Last of Us: Remastered, etc.
  • The most powerful next-gen console - Most PS4 games are running at 1080p, whereas a lot of these same titles on the Xbox One are running in the classic 720p, giving the PS4 a performance upside. However, Xbox One will more-than likely bring these games up-to-date matching the PS4 specs.
  • Cheaper (than Xbox One) - The Xbox One has closed the gap, costing about the same amount as the PS4 and on Amazon at the moment they are charging approximately £330. But the Sony Playstation 4 camera costs about £37 at Amazon, whereas the Xbox One's Kinect camera sensor costs about £125 at Amazon. Giving you a whopping £82 saving, giving you the spare cash to buy a couple more games.
  • Slim design - The PS4 has a sleek design, looking like pure beauty, so if you want a good-looking console which will blend in nicely on your entertainment unit, then this may be the console for you.
  • Innovative controller - The PS4's Dual-shock 4 controller is amazing, looking and feeling great to use. That isn't the best bit, as the PS4's controller also has a working screen in the middle of it, allowing you to send your gameplay to friends for them to help you on difficult parts. Admit it guys, we have all encountered a difficult part in a game, we simply couldn't do. Now, you can send it to a friend to do for you.

Cons

  • Missing TV simplicity - I am referring to the fact that the PS4 does not allow you to rid "input" switching or to move between gaming on the console and watching TV on the cable box. So, if this is what you want, then you'd be better off buying the Xbox One, as that console does all of those things.
  • I have the Xbox 360, not the PS3- Then you'll have to restart all of your achievements, no longer gathering gamer-score, but instead, you'll be gathering trophy's. Not to mention, if your friends are on Xbox LIVE, then you'll no longer be able to connect with them, since you'll now be using the PSN (Playstation network).
  • Still pricey- Sadly, like the Xbox One, you'll have to pay a hefty price tag in order to purchase the PS4, costing approximately £330, similar to the price of the Xbox One. Not including the Playstation Plus 12 month subscription (to access the internet, to play online), costing about £35 and if you want the Playstation 4 camera, then this will cost about £37.
  • Can't play PS3 games on the PS4, so don't throw away your last-gen (PS3) console, as you'll be unable to play your favourite PS3 games without it.
  • Happy with your PS3 or Xbox 360 - Then why not save the money, leaving your bank accounts £330 larger, and make full use of the Xbox 360 or PS3 for a little while longer. Give it 6 more months to a year, and the PS4 and Xbox One will come down price again, making it more affordable in price. Plus, the PS3 and Xbox 360 have all the necessities, including all the latest games, Netflix, Amazon Prime instant video stream, Blinkbox, and Sky Now access.

Overall, the PS4 is a worthy next-gen console, taking the performance and experience to a whole new level, concerning the gameplay and the entire entertainment system it provides.

This console will sit comfortably in peoples homes, offering all of your entertainment needs, pleasing the whole family. Its sleek design looks a beauty and the interior is just as beautiful, so if Sony's Playstation 4 is the brand for you, then you're in for a treat.

I hope this article has been helpful and useful, in helping you decide whether or not the PS4 is the console for you, as it is important that you know all the facts before purchasing the console, especially due to the high price tag attached to the product.

Should I Buy the Xbox One? - Pros and Cons

Xbox One (controller)

The next-gen console all Xbox fans are talking about, but should you buy one?

Its that time of year again, as the festivities are just around the corner and everyone's looking at their options this year, as to what they'd like good-old Santa to leave under their Christmas tree.

Like most video-game fans, I'm sure you are balancing your options as to whether or not to buy one of the next-gen consoles. Well, I say, good idea.

Makes the perfect gift for those addicted to their video-games, taking pleasure in all it has to offer, which in honesty, can benefit the whole family.

Especially since the next-gen consoles are hooked-up for all sorts of entertainment, including general TV viewing, watching films, listening to music, connecting with friends, and of course, playing video-games.

The following article lists the 'pros' and 'cons' to buying the Xbox One, summing up all those areas which may be causing you to doubt the purchase. In no specific order, here is a list of the 'pros' to buying the Xbox One, and a list of the 'cons' to buying the Xbox One.

Pros

  • The ultimate entertainment system, as Microsoft has increased its abilities, enabling a smoother experience for audiences watching TV and films. As-well-as the gamers, as now it is even easier to watch TV and play games, all with this one device, the Xbox One console.
  • Kinect - The 'Kinect' sensors movement and voice to improve the way users control the console from the offset, allowing users to tell the Xbox One what to do, for instance, asking it to "turn on", rather than manually doing it yourself. This is essentially a way for users to interact with the console in a simpler, more efficient manner. Also aimed at improving the way we gamers, play games.
  • The user interface on the Xbox One dashboard, is designed a lot like Windows 8, so if you're a fan, then this may be a point worth considering. It looks great and you are able to personalise and customise the dashboard to your liking.
  • Now using cloud, the Xbox One is changing the way we play online, stopping the restrictions that servers have been giving us now for such a long time in previous last-gen consoles.
  • The Xbox One also offers game exclusives, such as, Titanfall, Forza Horizon 2, Dead Rising 3, etc. These are just a few of the great titles Xbox One have in their exclusive collection, at this current time.
  • Xbox One in 'white' - For those who are looking to be unique, or simply liked the white Xbox 360, may be interested to know that on 31st October, 2014, Microsoft are launching the white (coloured) Xbox One (costing approximately £350 on Amazon).
  • Controller looks and feels great, looking slightly different to the Xbox 360's controller (better in my opinion).

    Cons

  • LIVE fees - Sadly, like with the Xbox 360, we must pay a fee to use the online function, costing approximately £35 for a years subscription. Monthly subscriptions cost approximately £5 (per month), or you can pay for a 3 month subscription, costing approximately £15. They are certainly flexible, but still a pain to pay. Although, you still have to pay Playstation to play online through the PS4, costing a similar amount to the Xbox, so this shouldn't be a deciding point over which to buy, the Xbox One or PS4.
  • 500GB restriction - There is also a limited storage capability on the Xbox One to consider, as if you run out of space, then you'll have to use external storage devices through its USB ports.
  • Still pricey - To buy the Xbox One (alone) at the moment, Amazon are currently charging about £320 and for the Xbox One and the Kinect sensor (together) they are currently charging about £390.
  • Large in size - The Xbox One is far bigger than their last-gen Xbox 360 and their rivals PS4. Not a deal-breaker for me, as it still has its appeal. Its been made larger, due to Xbox's fears of the Xbox One having overheating issues (having been a big issue for the Xbox 360). However, this has prompted lots of console buyers to think twice, as it does stand-out on the entertainment unit.
  • Can't play Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One, so don't throw away your last-gen console, since you'll be unable to play your favourite Xbox 360 games without it.

The Xbox One console looks and feels great to use, and there is a strong sense of pride in owning an Xbox One (at least, that has been in my experience). They were the major 'pros' to owning an Xbox One, but their are, like with all things in life, the 'cons'.
They were the serious 'cons' to consider before making a decision on whether or not to buy it, although in my opinion, they are all fairly low risk issues, that would have no serious impact over the 'high-class' experience you'd have using this particular next-gen console.

I hope this article has offered food-for-thought on whether or not the Xbox One is right for you, as it is important that all the right box's are ticked before making a final decision on whether or not to make the purchase, especially due to the expensive price.

Welcome, Trinity Titan Viewers

So, what does this blog offer and why should you follow us?

Let me start by saying just how sorry I am that this wasn't my first post, but I got so excited yesterday, that I felt the insane need to write a post about the upcoming Call of Duty game (Advanced Warfare).

Video-games have been a hobby of mine now for some time, ever since I was about 7 years old, to be exact. Although I have only ever had a taste for the shoot-em-up genre, having been a huge fan of some of the PS2 classics, like Killzone (original), Star Wars: Battlefront (1 & 2), Splinter Cell: Double Agent, and Timesplitters: Future Perfect, etc.

More recently, I am a huge Call of Duty fan but I dabble in playing other shooters, first-person and third-person, doesn't matter much to me, but I do prefer first-person shooters. I like the Battlefield franchise, Halo franchise, Tom Clancy franchise (i.e. Rainbow Six, Splinter Cell, etc.) and plenty other shooter games.

Getting down to business, here on my blog I will be giving the latest news on all the latest upcoming and recently released shooter titles, so expect a lot of updates on the latest shooter games.

Since I'm interested in all-things-shooting in video-games, I will be laying down my opinions on the latest shooters, offering reviews for the shoot-em-up games, as-well-as talking about all the latest headlines happening in the gaming world to keep you up to date on what's happening.

Yes, I will be giving some opinionated posts, constructive of course, keeping them as unbiased as possible. This will be hard, but I will try.

Its been an exciting year so far, having been the first complete year in which we have had access to the next-gen consoles (Xbox One & PS4), so I'll be keeping all up-to-date on the latest news about these next-gen platforms.

Opinions count, so please feel free to comment on posts as much as you like, as its always a pleasure having conversations started down in the comments box. It seems a shame to have an empty (comments) box under posts, when there could be some thought-provoking conversations taking place.

Thank-you for reading,

I hope to hear from you guys soon,

Your friendly games writer,

Craig Patrick

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare - What to Expect

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare | Due to release on 4th November, 2014
Since last years release of Call of Duty: Ghosts, developed by Infinity Ward, we have been anticipating this years release of CoD: Advanced Warfare, due to the lack of excitement 'Ghosts' brought us. Not to say 'Ghosts' was a bad game, but it certainly didn't have the desired effect, considering the 22 million copies sold was said to be a bad year for the CoD franchise.

So, lets take a look at the developer, who has created this years Call of Duty game. Treyarch, right? Wrong, since this year, we are seeing 'Sledgehammer Games', the co-developer for 'CoD: MW3 (Modern Warfare 3)' take the plunge in creating 2014's CoD release, all by themselves which has got a lot of CoD fans nervous, since two disappointing CoD games, one year to the next, could see a lot of CoD fans leave the series.

Although, that would be a little pre-mature in saying this, as Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has not yet been released and 'Sledgehammer Games' did a good job co-developing 'CoD: MW3', having been a worthy follow-on from 'MW2'.

There is now to be a three-year cycle for the Call of Duty franchise games, allowing each developer; Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and now Sledgehammer Games to create a world-class first-person shooter which is better than the previous years CoD release. No Pressure, CoD developers. This will benefit the CoD developers and the CoD fans, as this extra year will give the developers time to brush-up the gameplay, both online and offline to a better standard, also providing more time for developers to create DLC packs for the CoD games.

Down to the reality CoD fans now face for 2014's release, as the 'Advanced Warfare' release closes in, being released on November 4th, 2014 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, and PC.

Set completely in the future, 'Advanced Warfare' will be bringing a whole new set of weapons, perks, abilities and characters in multiplayer. As-well-as an exciting single player storyline which will test CoD fans willingness to play a futuristic style game, although 'Black Ops 2' was set in the future, so it isn't as though fans haven't already had a taste of the futuristic warfare.

Now, lets take a look at the in-game multiplayer features for 'Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare', considering this is why CoD fans keep buying the game every year. So, here they are:

- Advanced Exoskeleton:
This new feature, in multiplayer allows you to super-jump high in the air (and move quicker), landing nicely anywhere you like, being a serious advantage to your gameplay if you can learn to kill whilst mid-air. So look out for mid-air jumpers whilst playing online, as you can get some easy kills, or if you're unlucky, some easy deaths.

- Supply drops:
During multiplayer, you are able to earn supply drops, unlike any other reward you've ever come across before on a CoD game, as these supply drops will contain, either weapon loot, character gear, or reinforcements. This will be a great advantage for you and your team, if you are able to get to the loot before the enemy kills you first.

- New score-streaks, now competitive and customisable:
During multiplayer gameplay, earn score-streaks which can be customised to your liking, enabling you to lengthen the score required to receive the score-streaks. The benefit to this, being that the score-streak will be more powerful. Also, once you've earned a score-streak, a friendly player can join the streak to increase the damage it gives to the enemy.

- New perks and tools:
Now easier to use tactical grenades, as the one most suited to the movement will be used when in multiplayer gameplay. Through a new perk, you can utilise an expanded mini-map, enabling you to see where wounded enemies are on the map, without having any additional detective equipment on the map used by the friendly team.

- New energy-powered weaponry:
As apart of the futuristic experience, this all-new CoD game provides in multiplayer, an energy class, which has a new set of energy-powered weapons, which require no ammunition, but instead, power. Essentially, these weapons will never run out of ammunition, but be careful, as they can overheat.

- *Possibly* 15 prestiges and 50 levels (till next prestige)
Source: Sledgehammer Games co-founder Michael Condrey tweeted #AdvancedWarfareMP 50/15, referring to the number of prestiges and levels. Suggesting that there is likely to be 15 prestiges, going 5 above the usual 10 prestiges, as-well-as an expected 50 levels.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is a great looking game from what we have seen so far, with a whole new and exciting multiplayer experience set in the future, as-well-as lots more to contend with.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is due to release on November 4th, 2014.

Are you looking forward to playing Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare? Does this look like it could be the best CoD game yet? Or, are you put off by the new developer (going solo) and the futuristic era? ... Leave comments in the comments section below, as it would be interesting to hear your thoughts.
