CoD: Modern Warfare (2007) soon became the "must-have" video-game, then moving onto CoD: Modern Warfare 2 (2009), the second in the "Modern Warfare" series, created by the same developer, Infinity Ward.
CoD: Modern Warfare (1) was a total success, bringing gamers a first-person shooter experience like they'd never seen before. The single player campaign was exciting, including gripping cut-scenes, engaging characters, awesome single player gameplay, and an unforgettable, easy, normal, hard, and veteran difficulty selection to choose from.
CoD: Modern Warfare (1) also had the best multiplayer first-person (or any shooter, for that matter) gameplay that anyone had ever seen at that point, as-well-as having an ultra-fun multiplayer ranking system, having 55 levels and 10 prestiges, as all CoD fans will now know about. CoD: Modern Warfare (1) was the first amazing CoD multiplayer experience which started the CoD franchise on a whole new and exciting journey, still happily moving forward, today.
The Second "Modern Warfare" (aka MW2), carried on from the first very well, keeping in touch with fans desire for the perfect multiplayer experience, having brought back a lot of what made gamers fall in love with the original. The ranking system, prestiges, and gameplay, were all similar to the first "Modern Warfare", although improved with up-to-date technology for that time.
Although, "MW2", did, and still does have its downside, being specific to the multiplayer, since it started the "noob-tube", "quick-scope" and "drop-shot" issue which we still find ourselves being exposed to on the multiplayer function on today's Call of Duty games.
Finally, "MW3" (aka Modern Warfare 3), the final in the "Modern Warfare" series, also being one of the best, in my opinion. This "Modern Warfare" release was developed by Infinity Ward, just like all of the other CoD: Modern Warfare titles, except, this time, Sledgehammer Games co-developed, alongside Infinity Ward for "MW3".
A great Idea!
"MW3" was by all means an exciting game to play, as its multiplayer was a buzz, offering all of the usual excitement we have come to expect from an Infinity Ward CoD title, as-well-as having the added touch of Sledgehammer Games, whose expertise and knowledge certainly offered something more to the game.
So, Why not the "Black Ops" series?
I'm sure there are those of you, who are asking this very question, although, like with all CoD related matters, there will always be those who agree and those who disagree.
Call of Duty: Black Ops (1 & 2) were both great games to play, being developed by a different developer, Treyarch, certainly added to its difference in gameplay and feel. Offering an all-new type of CoD experience, having certain CoD fans more impressed with their developing style, then those, who feel Infinity Ward's CoD developing style is better.
No seriously, why not the "Black Ops" series?
I did't choose the "Black Ops" series mostly due to the multiplayer experience not being as fun or as engaging, in my opinion, when compared to a CoD: Modern Warfare title. That isn't meant to be a hate comment towards the "Black Ops" series, as their games were both brilliantly put together and seriously fun to play, offering endless hours of chaos to immerse yourself into.
But, "Black Ops" has zombies?
That's true! The "Black Ops" series does have the zombies game-mode, having been one of the most awesome game-modes ever added to a CoD game or any game for that matter. But, in my opinion, it is more about the multiplayer experience than the added extras put into a game, even the added extras like CoD: Black Ops zombies, having been that good, it could have become its own game.
Overall, I believe that Call of Duty's best series, so far, is "Modern Warfare", having started the franchise onto a whole new level of intense popularity due to "Call of Duty 4" ("MW1") having had the best multiplayer ever seen at that point in time. As-well-as remaining just as fun to play, all the way from the first "Modern Warfare" up until its final, "Modern Warfare 3".
Final question
Do you think Treyarch should loan the zombies game-mode idea to Infinity Ward, asking them to create their own version of the zombies to see how they could put their touch on the game-mode? ... Leave your answers in the comments section below.
